The greatest value for the youth ministry training dollar returns to the NY/NJ metro area June 12.

Greater NY youth workers are already familiar with Reload, the best-of-class, one-day training experience offered by Urban Youth Workers Institute (UYWI) in 20+ cities each year. Metro New York has hosted Reload for 4 of the last 5 years, in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens. Each of the last 3 years the region has set the attendance mark for Reload nationally, with more than 900 gathering last year at Christ Tabernacle in Queens.

This year, Greater New York and New Jersey will innovate Reload 1.2.3.

In UYWI’s ongoing effort to make quality training accessible to grassroots youth workers close to where they minister and at a price they can afford, NY/NJ will host the first multi-site, multi-state Reload conference on June 12, 2010. That’s right:

    * 1 Conference
* 2 States
* 3 Sites

Even more exciting, Reload 1.2.3 will demonstrate what empowered youth leadership looks like as emerging leaders will be integrated into every aspect of the day.

Register today. $20 in April. $25 in May. $30 at the Door.

Friends:

As you may have heard, in January the Coalition of Urban Youth Workers transitioned leadership from co-chairs Walter Sotelo and Kevin Young to me as its new Chairperson. After serving the Coalition for three years in a supportive function as the architect of 20/20 Vision for Schools, it is an honor to have been asked to assume a leadership role again after that assignment ended.

This Monday, February 8, is our regular network meeting from 10-12. In January, Coalition presented a vision for 2010 that includes connecting youth workers, cultivating leadership, collaborative partnerships, and communicating for greater Kingdom effectiveness.

This month, we will unpack those ideals in an effort to bring training resources, collaborative opportunities, and connecting points with other youth workers closer to where we actually serve in ministry.

What: Network and Planning Meeting
Where: Nyack College Manhattan Center
361 Broadway (b/w Leonard and Franklin Streets)
6th Floor Conference Room
When: Monday February 8, 10 am – 12 pm
Who: NYC church and para-church youth workers
Why: Trained youth workers collaborating for exponential Kingdom impact

Please RSVP your attendance via email. Thank you!

In Service,
Jeremy Del Rio

2020 Vision for Schools is a new campaign of the Coalition of Urban Youth Workers to transform public education in New York City within a single generation of students.  For generations, NYC has failed to deliver on its promise to children that if they stay in school, they will be equipped with the skills they need to succeed in life.  First graders in September 2008 are the high school graduating class of 2020.  Churches and youth ministries around the city are declaring that this generation will be the first one for whom we make good on our promises.

We launched a website at www.2020Schools.net to promote the campaign and provide resources to equip churches to adopt schools effectively.  The basic concept is explained at the about page, as well as in a YouTube video you’ll see posted on the home page.  The Resource page offers links to a variety of supporting materials, including articles, audio downloads, powerpoint presentations, case studies and more.  The website is very much an evolving organism, with new content and funtionality being added regularly.

We’ll be discussing next steps and how-to’s at the next Coalition meeting (Monday, February 11, 7-9 pm at the King’s College, Empire State Building, LL Classroom 2).  Please rsvp by email if you will be joining us this month.
